Rosemary Tilbrook, writer and naturalist, had a magical way with words. She began writing her "In the Countryside" articles for the Eastern Daily Press in 1986 and by the time of her death had written some twelve hundred. Together they form a beautiful calendar of the seasons and cover every aspect of the complex life of the wild things that make our English countryside such a joy. In this book, beautifully illustrated by her husband Richard, are over a hundred of her best articles, carefully chosen to cover the four seasons.

Thanks are due to Mike Fuggle who designed this book.
